We routinely handle alternative dispute resolution such as arbitrations and mediations. Arbitration has become a common form of dispute resolution specified in construction contracts. Arbitration is provided for mostly on private construction projects such as commercial or industrial projects. Arbitration is rarely provided for in public works contracts. However, the trend is for large Louisiana contractors to be subcontractors on very large design-build jobs that attract national or international firms to our state. Arbitration is frequently called for to resolve disputes between those general contractors and local subcontractors and/or suppliers on such projects. This means aspects of public work come before a panel of arbitrators for resolution. This raises some new issues to be resolved.

Mr. Wray has been selected to act as a mediator on construction cases and has represented parties in mediation on numerous other cases. We also endeavor to resolve matters through less formal negotiation whenever possible prior to instituting a suit or demanding arbitration.

Mr. Wray has been selected to be a panelist with the American Arbitration Association National Roster of Arbitrators.
