Legislation & Public Policy
Our experience drafting proposed legislation includes regularly consulting with construction trade associations on their legislative packages and drafting or consulting on specific projects. Some prominent legislation that we have worked on involves the mandamus statutes as part of the prompt payment provisions of the Louisiana Public Works Act (La. R.S. 38:2191), the anti-indemnity statute (La. R.S. 9:2780.1), and other such provisions touching on public bidding and related matters. W.P. Wray, Jr. (now deceased) was involved with the Louisiana Associated General Contractors many years ago in connection with La. R.S. 9:2771, the design sufficiency law. Also, Russel W. Wray more recently worked with the Louisiana Law Institute as a special counselor on the revision of the Louisiana Private Works Act that became effective in 2020.
We have represented trade associations as a party in public policy litigation and as amicus curie on numerous cases to advocate the interest of the construction industry in Louisiana on a wide range of topics from public bidding, insurance, employment, or constitutional issues.
